Understanding Undertones

When it comes to undertones, this can make or break the flawlessness of your makeup. For the sake of simplicity, I will address the three most common undertones: Warm, Neutral, and Cool. The best way to understand how undertones work is to think of a basic color wheel. One one side you have your reds, yellows, and oranges, i.e warm. On the other side there are your blues, purples, and greens -- cool.And somewhere in between those colors lies neutrals such as grey. The problem that people run into when choosing a makeup, more specifically foundation, is that the shade is correct, but the undertone isn't. If your skin has a really warm undertone and you apply a cool tone foundation, chances are when it oxidizes, it will leave your face looking discolored and maybe even grey. And vice versa, warm toned foundation will leave your face looking too red and/or too orange.
